Nik Kershaw then...
They say the best things come in small packages and we certainly thought this pint-sized popstar, complete with spiky mullet and pixie face was well worthy of a swoon in the 80s. And his songs sound scarily good still today...

Nik quit his record contract with MCA in 1989 to concentrate on song writing and ferret husbandry!? The 90s saw him writing for/with, amongst others: Chesney Hawkes, Cliff Richard and Jason Donovan. He didn't return to making his own records until 1998 when he released the critically acclaimed '15 Minutes' album and most recently 'You've Got To Laugh'.

Simon Le Bon then...
Owner of possibly our favourite haircut of the 80s, Simon Le Bon was so hot that he bagged himself a supermodel and became the fantasy of pubescent girls the world over. Boys wanted to be him, girls wanted to be with him and we were no exception, Brit boys had never been this cool before.

Simon and the other original members of Duran Duran are back together and recording after a short break in the 90s. After a successful world tour in 2003 the band released the album 'Astronaut' in 2004 and have been performing in sell-out tours in the US, South American and UK ever since.

Adam Ant then...
Back in the day, the pouty sex god personified new romanticism and wore make-up better than we did. Don't tell us you didn't dream of being held up by the dandy highwayman in the Stand and Deliver video...

In 2002 he had a a few brushes with the law and was charged with threatening members of the public with a firearm and suspicion of criminal damage. The court ordered that he undertake rehabilitation, although he was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Last year the star was awarded the Q Music Icon Award.
Luke Perry then...
The Beverly Hills 90210 heartthrob bought the quiff back into fashion, a look badly imitated by Mark Lamaar in good old Blighty. The squinting hunk with the soft voice covered many a teenage bedroom wall and even though the film career never really took off, we still thought you were a star Dylan.

The gorgeous Luke is still in demand in the US. He starred in the 2007 film 'The Sandlot' and in the 2008 western A 'Gunfighter's Pledge' as well as the HBO series 'John from Cincinnati', and will this year appear in the horror film 'Catacombs 2'. He also played himself (as Krusty the Clown's half brother) in an episode of The Simpsons in 1993!

Michael J. Fox then...
Another small but perfectly formed 80s crush, Marty McFly got our pulses racing as the permanently tardy Back to the Future teenage tearaway. An all American boy that you could take home to meet your Mum and Dad but would climb in through your bedroom window at night. Be still out beating hearts...

Having been diagnosed in 1991 with Parkinson's disease Michael decided to semi-retire from acting in 2000. A keen political activist Fox appeared in a television campaign commercial in 2006, endorsing Claire McCaskill, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Missouri and opposing incumbent senator Jim Talent for his opposition to embryonic stem cell research.
