"I'm not the sort to read all the manuals about babies and childbirth" says dad-to-be Gary from Cheshire. Gary instead has talked to friends and colleagues who have recently become fathers to ask for tips.
"I wanted to help my wife as much as I could when our son was born, and in fact I loved our night feedings, just the two of us together" says Morcambe based dad Ian.
Father of one Paul warns other dads-to-be that there could be some tough times ahead once junior arrives, "Anna and I were arguing a lot when our son was small. We were basically really tired all day. Things have improved now, I'm happy to report."
Another worn out dad was Jordan in Salford who tells us: "I have never been so tired in my life as when our baby had colic. He never stopped crying! Work was really hard for a while because nobody was sleeping at home!"
Nicholas is separated from the mother of his daughter. He wants to be a better dad than his own father, "My dad wasn't around very much, and when he was he was quite distant. I try to have fun with my daughter, and I'm a big part of her life".
Daniel, from Newcastle, tells us that he has bonded with his two girls in particular by taking them out playing golf. "It's good to share and pass on the love of my hobby, and I like teaching them", he says. Other dads might enjoy fishing, or playing tennis, or maybe just computer games!
Sam, based in London, says, "I have to be honest and say that I found the baby years quite dull, but as my children have got older, they're so much more interesting, and they're funny, I love their jokes."
New dad Liam feels that it's important to spend time with his baby every day. "I really want to come home on time these days and catch the end of his bath before bed, see that cheeky grin!" he comments.
Richard says that despite loving his pre-teen kids, he can get irritated by them. "They only ever seem to want my attention when I am doing something else!" We think that it's a universal thing, and here's a picture of a busy President Obama being distracted by his daughter to prove it!
Christian, dad to one teenage boy, recommends talking to your partner about any potentially thorny parenting issues. He and his wife always try to be consistent in their decisions and feel this is important in a family.
