Richest Tennis Stars

    1. Rafael Nadal
    £2.7m ($4,107,150)

This year Nadal has already won the Australian Open, the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Indian Wells, the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo, the ATP 500 in Barcelona and the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Rome. Some years he seems a little tired come Wimbledon, but hopes are high for another classic showdown/beatdown with Federer.

    2. Serena Williams
    £1.3m ($2,037,504)

Serena's only victory this year has been the Australian Open - clearly enough to propel her to second in this list. Injuries have seen her withdraw from a few tournaments in the early rounds, but like sister Venus, Serena appears more focused on winning the four big grand slams. Is reported to pocket more than £7m a year in commercial ventures - one being her own fashion label.

    3. Roger Federer
    £1.3m ($1,994,252)

With total career prize booty at over £30m ($46,588,210), you'd think Federer would be content with his achievements. Sadly the pressure to win a record-equalling 14 grand slams seems to be getting to Roger, who lost to Nadal in this year's Aussie Open. You may recall some tears... Roger is reported to make over £14m a year through commercial ventures. Does this include look-a-like appearances as Quentin Tarantino? Has won 13 grand slams.

    4. Dinara Safina
    £1.2m ($1,864,243)

Having lost out to Serena Williams in the final of the Australian Open, Safina can take heart in having won two other tournaments so far this year - in Rome and Madrid. Though still to win a grand slam tournament, Safina goes into the French Open as this year's top seed.

    5. Andy Murray
    £1.2m ($1,807,305)

Murray is riding high this year, having won tournaments in Doha, Rotterdam and Miami. Strengths to look out for at Wimbledon are Murray's serve and ability to construct a point. The only weakness is bearing the load of Britain's Pimms-fuelled optimism.

    6. Novak Djokovic
    £1.2m ($1,784,167)

This year has won tournaments in Dubai and his native Belgrade. Is known for his blistering ground strokes and humorous impressions of other well-known players. Has one grand slam title to his name (last year's Australian Open).

    7. Victoria Azarenka
    £810,000 ($1,254,262)
The Belarusian has won three singles (and two at doubles) titles this year, beating Venus Williams in the final of the Miami Open. Is said to admire Roger Federer for his professionalism. Her total career prize money comes to £1.7m ($2,649,023) - this year's efforts have helped her out somewhat.

    8. Vera Zvonareva
    £765,000 ($1,184,848)

Won at Indian Wells, sending her to the dizzy heights of 5th in the WTA World rankings. Zvonareva has courted controversy in the past due to her emotional displays of frustration when losing. Is sponsored by K-Swiss, who sadly deem Anna Kournikova more worthy for their ad campaigns.

    9. Andy Roddick
    £707,000 ($1,094,597)

Has only one title to his name so far (a tournament in Memphis). But not to worry for Andy, who pulls in the bucks off-court via endorsements with American Express, Babolat, Lacoste, Lexus and Rolex. Look out for possible serve and volley tactics at Wimbledon.
