Susan Boyle

When dowdy looking Susan shuffled on to the stage the judges and audience rolled their eyes and sniggered as she answered Simon's typically condescending questions – but that was all to change when she opened her mouth to sing.

Susan's audition has become the most viewed YouTube clip of all time - with almost 200million hits - in comparison to the 18.5million views of US President Barack Obama's inauguration ceremony back in January.

She has her own fan site and counts Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher amongst her followers.

Susan, who lives alone with her two cats in West Lothian, Scotland, said she entered the competition for her mum, who died in 2007. 'She was the one who said I should enter 'Britain's Got Talent. We used to watch it together.'

Men are now said to be queuing up to romance the star - who admits she's never been kissed - but 'Britain's Got More Talent' presenter Stephen Mulhern claims she has her sights set on him after she made gestures at him during the filming of his show.

Susan could record a duet with her idol after the West End Star was blown away by her performance. Elaine said: 'It looks like I have competition. Perhaps we should record a duet. Susan is a role model for everyone who has a dream.'

Susan has been offered a role in 'Section B' - a new film starring Cyndi Lauper and Tippi Hedren about Baby Boomers who put their lives on hold to chase their dreams. The film's director asked Susan to appear in the film and sing a duet with Queen Emily David, a finalist on 'America's Got Talent.'

Susan, pictured here outside her home in Blackburn, had told CNN that she wouldn't be having a Hollywood makeover, explaining: 'that would really make things a bit false. I want to receive people as the real me, a real person.' Despite that, she has been spotted out and about with a new look…

Susan updated her look with a funky leather jacket, colourful print dress and shiny leopard print heels. When asked about her new look she said: 'I will need to sort out my dress sense and my weight. It wasn't until I saw myself on TV that I realised how frumpy I was. I just want to look nice and smart.'

The world's media have been fascinated by Susan, who has touched people's hearts around the globe, perhaps because she reminds us never to judge a book by its cover. But is all the attention changing the lady dubbed the 'hairy angel'?
