Leona Lewis has recently been on the run thanks to the actions of a deranged fan. That's right, Whitney's Mini-Me fled LA for London after a man followed her home and pressed his face up against the windows of her Hollywood mansion. And plenty of other celebrities have had their cages rattled by stalkers of their own...
Tyra Banks recently ended up in court trying to get a restraining order on one of her more ardent supporters. "I fear for my safety", the high priestess of America's Next Top Moggle told the judge, after revealing that her stalker had even sneaked into her studio. Surely he could have said it with flowers.
"I had no idea she was under there", George Michael told GQ magazine, after it was revealed that a female stalker had hidden under his living room floorboards for an astonishing four days. "I could hear my name being called out. Then she suddenly presented herself." Something tells us he'd have found her much sooner had she hidden in the loo.
A teenage stalker who was obsessed by Germaine Greer jumped out from behind a bush in the feminist writer's garden and leapt onto her back screaming, "Mummy, Mummy". The media rentaquote was held captive for two hours, before being dinner guests arrived and discovered the troubled girl clinging onto the Greer pins.
Few will deny that Taxi Driver is a cracking film, but a fan named John Hinckley, Jr. took his approval of starlet Jodie Foster to extremes. Not only did he stalk her around college, but he also attempted to assassinate Ronald Reagan in a bid to impress her. He was last heard screeching "I'll get you, Foster!" from the dock, before being placed in psychiatric care. Scary stuff.
"I've got my mind set on you", sang George Harrison. And Cristin Keleher must have known exactly how he felt, as she broke into the ex-Beatle's home before sitting down at the table and munching away at one of his frozen pizzas. The deranged fan, who'd pestered George for years, served four months for the crime.
Everybody likes to receive a letter from time to time. But not when you're Uma Thurman and the notelet includes a picture of a decapitated bride and a crude drawing of a stick figure perched on top of a razor blade. "My hands should be on your body at all times", read another chilling memo. Thankfully for the Kill Bill star, her stalker was convicted of the harassment charges in 2008.
You won't find many fans of Catherine Zeta Jones round here, but the Michael Douglas-obsessed Dawnette Knight took her dislike a tad too far by sending letters stating that she would chop the actress up and feed her to dogs. Knight was sentenced to three years in prison following a high-profile trial.
Pam Anderson has no shortage of male admirers, but one 29-year-old from Newcastle went way too far. Not only did he repeatedly follow the star around her favourite shops, but he also showed up at her sons' school brandishing the movie script he'd written especially for her. Pammy eventually won a three-year restraining order.
Another high profile case of celebrity stalking involved violinist Vanessa Mae, who received a stream of love letters and gifts from an obsessed fan over the space of two years. The stalker, who also kept a diary of her movements, was only caught when Vanessa's boyfriend spotted him trying to stuff another note into her letterbox.
